The Prompts

Set up in under two minutes. Read the short cues out loud, then step back and let your child lead.

1) Rescue Route
Setup: Make simple tape roads to a comfy “rescue zone” (cushion or basket).
Say: “Can you collect the passengers and take them to the safe place?”
Skills: planning, problem-solving, gross motor.
2) Colour Stops
Setup: Three coloured paper circles (red, yellow, blue) as “bus stops”.
Say: “Park at the red stop and find something else that’s red.”
Skills: colour matching, visual scanning, attention.
3) Bus Wash
Setup: Small bowl of warm water + drop of soap + cloth; dry with towel.
Say: “First wash, then rinse, then dry. Can you do it in that order?”
Skills: sequencing, practical life, hand strength.
4) Bridge & Tunnel
Setup: Use arches for tunnels and ramps; add a soft “river” (scarf) to cross.
Say: “Can you drive under the tunnel and over the bridge?”
Skills: spatial language, balance, gentle control.
5) Ticket Office
Setup: Paper tickets + pencil stamps. Keep “coins” (blocks/counters) in a bowl.
Say: “Tickets are two coins today—can you count them out?”
Skills: counting, turn-taking, role play.
6) Sorting Passengers
Setup: Put shapes or animals in a tray. Make one rule: “Only circles today.”
Say: “Who can board the circle bus? What happens to the squares?”
Skills: categorising, flexible thinking, language.
7) Photo Journey
Setup: Create three “sights” (block tower, favourite book, soft toy).
Say: “Stop at each sight and take a picture. What should we remember?”
Skills: memory, storytelling, sequencing.
8) Night Service
Setup: Dim lights; use a torch to find hidden “stops” (stickers/post-its).
Say: “Shh… night bus only whispers. Can you find the star stop?”
Skills: self-regulation, sensory focus, gentle movement.
9) Gentle Hills
Setup: Build two cushion slopes; mark a “slow lane” with a scarf.
Say: “Count each hill. Can you make it slower on the way down?”
Skills: core strength, control, early maths language.
10) Market Run
Setup: Place “groceries” (safe pantry items/blocks) in two spots.
Say: “Deliver milk to the kitchen and fruit to the café. Which first?”
Skills: choice-making, vocabulary, pretend play.
Parent tip: if energy spikes, switch to a “slow bus” rule—whisper voice, turtle pace, deep breaths at each stop.
